Psycho Kitty from Mars??

Hello people...
Not much to say except this cat is nuts! (Yeah? And?...) I have this new (to her0 tall fabric offfice chair that she LOVES! (So much in fact, I have trouble getting her to get OUT of MY chair! She may try to rule the house, but this chair is mine... MINE! LOL... A couple of times when I've been in the chair, leaning forward to type, she'd sneak up behind me and sit behind my back... I'd ask her to please move... and she would get on top of it, just standing there, weighing me down. Swivelling and rocking never helps, wether she's on the back of the chair or in the chair, dumping doesn't either... it's like I've said in the past, it's the same concept as with trying to pick her up.. for me anyway... she just clings to whatever like a ton of bricks. We had a friend over for dinner over the weekend and Sue picked the cat right up... John and I simultaneously looked at each other in confusion... hahaha... I don't get it... Sue has had cats... John has had cats... maybe that's the problem... I haven't had enough personal ownership exposure to cats with the exception of Remi that we only had for a month RIP. :( She is such a funny / crazy cat... the last couple of times John or I have tried to get her to either get down off the chairback, or go to the windowsill, i.e., "make up your mind, one or the other... that was pretty much what john told her last time lol" she went straight to the windowsil.. but a couple of times when she's tried that, she wasn't so successful and she's fallen straight to the ground.. poor kitty... just like a cartoon strip. she gets sick once in awhile but over all we're getting more comfortable with each other although a lot of times when I dangle things in front of her for semi gentle play, in my favor, she looks at me like, 'yeah? you're waving a toy in front of me and your point is?" She still loves the laser pointer, however even it doesn't last long... LOL that's our little NErT case! Hope everyone is doing well. :)

CAT LOVERS WILL APPRECIATE THIS ONE!

AHEM! Let me state FOR THE RECORD, I did NOT EVEN NOTICE the actual cat at the bottom of the picture when I took the picture of the soil bag (so you could see what I was looking at) See what 2-3 hours of sleep and medical stuff making you nuts can do to you? UGH!..

Wow, what a day I've had so far. I've been awake roughlly since 3 AM, I keep having insomnia because the pain is so bad. (I just started nuvijil this morning, hope that helps some of these symptoms). I did a little research on my phone cuz I was wide awake. I got up probably around 5ish and stayed up. Took a shower, jumped into my sweats, and later turned up the heat cuz I'm having chills. BTW I'm thinking of starting a blog, or a journal @ CaringBridge.com if they allow just anybody, so keep your eyes open if you want to follow my medical stuff. ANYWAY I wanted to stay on target with breakfast, so ate a little after 8 when I normally get up, took pills, had some tea.

I came back to the computer and was telling the cat that she's been a very good kitty and how much I love her. I apologized for being abrupt and distant and skittish and not feeling well lately.. all of this while she was on the windowsill. Well sometimes the way she breathes or makes these weird grumbling noises, I know something's up (there have been a variety of cats in the area, stressing her out. For the last couple of days, she's hidden under the dining room table (most of the day)on one of the chairs, which is right next to the back door, with lots of windows, so she can see what's going on.) ANYWAY, sorry this is so long and "Family Circus" like... it takes me forever to tell a story, just ask John. :P So I get up from the computer to take a look, I don't see anything at first, I was very careful with maneuvering the curtains as to not get attacked by Nert, as I sometimes do for scoping out why she's in distress. Uh, I saw what looked like a dead cat, based on John's description of a new cat I hadn't seen yet, sounded like a calico cat. (I called him and asked him to bring a pseudo body bag, explained what I thought was going on, because after flicking the window a few times, no response)... another flick and the cat batted at me. She's done this before, but today was weird. I immediately lost my balance big time, (since I've had this latest health stuff, I've been losing my balance easily sometimes)fell over backwards, into the chair, and kept falling to the ground, taking the chair with me. My reading glasses went flying off my face, and i hurt my left wrist and magnified the pain in the lower right rib area. It was funny but not so funny. After I got up and picked everything up and made sure my pulse was somewhat back to normal, I went outside to investigate... approaching slowly, no movement from the "cat". Upon closer investigation, it was part of the rubble we have in the backyard, an old white bag of fertilizer, some at the top of the bag had dried out unless it was just a pile of natural debris. I was scared at first while approaching it but relieved to find out it wasn't a dead cat. I swear all this medical stuff I've been going through has been making me crazy! =/ I hope this story made you all smile a little bit. :P HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYBODY!!! It's overcast here, and I have the heat up a little bit, am cold with a little bit of chills, hope it gets "warm" later. Oh, by the way, on top of this fiasco, John purchased 2 books of stamps yesterday and this morning asked me where they were. I swear I didn't remember him handing them to me, my memory has gotten very poor in the last month or two. I looked all over cuz he said he handed them to me yesterday, uh, he found them out in the driveway, one of the books was underneath the neighbors truck. I am just scatterbrained left and right, not that that has anything to do with a cat blog. :-/ I NEED SLEEP!!

Not the best day for Nert

Sorry I haven't posted much lately AGAIN, just not a lot going on with Nert, but today has been pretty weird so far. Before John got here, she managed to "missfire" at her litter box. there was a nice little pile in front on the carpet, which she was trying to bury, then a little around the rim of the box, which i tried my best to clean, hard to reach the rest, so... John said he'd take care of it later when he cleans the box. After John got here, more fun and excitement! (?) She was digging at the rug in the living room, so my inclination was 'oh great, she did it again.' nope, she just kept "digging" and scratching over and over even though I tried to get her not to. well, John got here for a few before he had to go to a meeting for the day. I had the window open in "Nert's room" (music room/ /computer soom ) so the smell would kinda air out. John was on my computer while i was in the bathroom getting dressed. I didn't hear anything except sounds from John playing around with the new midi setup.. when I came out and heard John talking to the cat, he was caressing her and saying it was ok, kept consoling her. Well DUH stupid me... the window was open wide enough for her to play around with the screen. Her claws are in need of a trim and she got both of them stuck. (After that I closed the window)... =( I feel so guilty! Poor kitty... so after awhile, John had to leave.. I pet her a few times, she was like "Yeah whatever". i tried putting a few treats in front of her dish, which she usually eats, but she just niffed at them. After John left, she went back onto the winidowsil.. that was at the time I decided to close the window all the way.. (I did close it a little but wanted some air to come in to kidna kill the smell)... when I decided just to close it all the way she was batting at me when closing it. Then she was lying on her tree and i tried to pet her, she had this look and reaction like, "don't you even come near me!"... She was looking down on one the "branches" of her "tree", she was almost looking underneath the level she was on, it was weird, I was waiting for her to do a faceplant but she's napping now. we shall see how the rest of the day goes! I've been tangling with more Dr. and health stuff so I hope the cat will be ok at least. Ugh! I'll keep you posted should there be any new developments.

It's been awhile, sorry, have been busy. Last weekend nert took a vacation at the kennel while we went to Chico to visit some of John's family. She wasn't sure what to do when we first brought her back home, but she settled right in as soon as she found her food dishes. :). She has been a very good cat lately. :). Tonight would have been the perfect comic strip scenario. I grabbed a hanful of food to put in her dish, and as I was about to put it in, she hovered over it and pigged out so I waited for a few. Then she scooted back a little, and as I bent down, she hovered over it again. Ok... Then she moved our of the way and when I finally put in some more food SHE WALKED AWAY... it was pretty funny! :). Hope she survives the rest of the weekend with firecrackers and 'works. I'm clearing closet floor and leaving door open, I just hope she doesn't get engulfed somewhere. Lol

Nert - the weirdo

Well I haven't posted in a little while - not a lot to say I guess. She's just living every day as a "normal" cat. The other day I tried to brush her, and she tried to bite me, then when I was walking away, she tried to bite my foot. She's really weird. She got sick this morning.. ugh. We tried starting her on chocolate PetoMalt a week ago and she's not liking it.. I'm wondering if we should try chicken flavor... we need to get some more cat fod in the next day or two so might try a different flavor. Somewhere on the web, I read to coat your cat's paws with petroleum jelly - that just sounds icky and cruel, but if it works for some people so be it. I couldn't picture licking / swallowing vasoline.. Anyway, John just brushed her fur and she was purring up a storm and liking it a lot, and curling up into balls and being sweet. Well after a few minutes, she came over to me and attacked me with a little scratch, not bad but it actually hurt more than all the other ones have. I didn't even touch her. I'm wondering if she's still having adjustment problems, I donno, it's been 3 months already, that in my mind should be more than enough time. She has her moments where she's very sweet, then there are the other times. She always likes to come up to me, start purring, and licking my arms, she tried purring at me a LITTLE bit this morning earlier, too early to get up, it was 6 I think. When I finally got up, she wasn't around, that's when I noticed she had gotten sick in her water. =( I don't want her to get sick but if she won't eat the PetoMalt, and doesn't want me to brush her fur, I am not sure what to do. One thing that I've found kinda funny though... anytime she's cleaning herself, sometimes I will just be sitting there and watching there... if she catches me, she will completely stop, turn around and keep cleaning. Haha... weirdo! Also when she's scratching her ear, sometimes she'll freeze if I'm looking at her, then she'll continue after a couple of seconds. Every cat is so unique it's amazing.. I just wish she was a nicer cat - I'm starting to be convinced that she likes John a LOT more than me... maybe because she doesn't see him nearly as much? Who knows. =/ So that's pretty much it for this update.. :)

Nert update

Sorry I haven't blogged for awhile, not a whole lot to say really. This morning, Nert got sick.. yesterday she bit me after she was playful with mom, then mom left, go fig. :P For a good part of the afternoon Nert had been quite talkative... but last night when I went to bed, she didn't join me. I left the door open ajar, and woke up this morning with no cat, and the door had been shut by the furnace air. (A few days ago she didn't sleep with me either; she camped out on the couch). Today she has been VERY quiet, sleeping most of the day, she ate a LITTLE bit, was not in the mood to play much, I got her to play with the laser for about 5 seconds. I usually keep all her toys out on the living room rug so she can pick at whatever she wishes to. Tonight she seemed a little weird; anytime throughout the day that I would try to pet her, she'd either flinch or run away. I'm noticing she's liking John more. I'm also thinking I may have developed a new cat allergy. While I've had allergy type problems for a long time due to various things, I think having cats around had just magnified it. When I was tested a few years ago, the test said no cat allergy, but dog hair. It was suggested to me that we remove the carpets. (I'd love to remove the shag any day) LOL but I love having carpeting... the house has carpeted bedrooms. The hallway & living room are hardwood, and the kitchen is tile. John brought up a good point though; this house suffered a fire MANY years ago (remember his mom is just down the street so he grew up there), and there may have been some damage to the flooring. I'm thinking I'll probably just vacuum more. I have been wanting to schedule an appt with an allergist recommended by my ear Dr. I know I've gone way off topic of the cat, sorry... Nert for the most part is a good cat, but tonight she just seems kinda lost. :/ She's sleeping at the foot of the bed, I'm hoping the night will be uneventful, I don't want to disturb her sleep. I'll update if necessary, we'll watch her for a few days.

Nert is DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!

It's been a little while since I've posted, things for the most part, have been going well up until a couple of days ago. She's been in this fussy attack mode and I'm not sure what it's about. I've been trying to be calm and keep my cool, I have still not used the spray bottle on her to this day, but I may have to start doing so. Yesterday, I was sitting on the couch and she crawled into my lap, which was ironic, because for the last couple of days, she would swipe and try to nibble at me and John off and on with no motive. I was petting her, things seemed ok, and John took a couple of pictures. She totally flipped out and bit and scratched me. This morning she wouldn't give me the time of day, and once when I tried petting her, she was about to attack so I walked away. I sat on the bed later for a minute, barely pet her and she attacked me. A few nights ago, she attacked both of us because John moved her from the bed so we could get comfy and watch the Olympics on the bed, since the only tv right now is in the bedroom. She bit & scratched both of us. I am so frustrated, yesterday when she turned on me, she left bigger bite marks than normal, not by much, but left welts from scratching. I am realllllly starting to lose my patience. At night she hogs the bed and sometimes she flips out on me when I try to undo the covers and get in. So I've been luring her off with the fishing pole toy which seems to work with no problem. This cat is nuts. :( I really miss my previous cat. So, that's it for my bitch session LOL sorry... just wanted to post SOMETHING since I haven't lately. :-/

What a crabby little twit!

Well it's been a few days since I've posted anything so I thought I would blog an update. Nert is getting weirder and weirder every day. Last night, Scott came over for awhile, and he & John were playing around with the Wii, and she was hiding under the dresser. (See pic on Facebook :) )... Well Scott was kinda grabbing her tail, and I asked him to stop, because I'm starting to pick up on her tolerance levels, and she's not tolerating a whole lot these days. Well she started swatting at him a few times, and he stopped finally, she calmed down for a brief period. Then after the guys left, she plopped herself right in the middle of the bed, and was glaring at me for awhile. I prolonged getting into bed because for one, she HATES it when I try to pick her up, I never manage to succeed in doing so, she arches and freezes, but John has no problem. I did manage to get into bed after awhile and try to squiggle around her which was a chore for about an hour or so. Sometime later she clung to my back and overheated it the rest of the night. This morning, she was not purring at me much, by the time I actually got up, she was already on the windowsill staring out at the sunshine. (YES! A DRUY, seemingly CLOUDLESS DAY!) Well I was in the bathroom getting dressed, had music on, and I heard a loud thump, almost sounded like a crash. I opened the door to hear Nert howling and crying. I approached her slowly, did not want to touch her, if I barely even attempt it when she's in a mood, I get swiped at or nipped on, I have a few holes, but fortunately no blood has been drawn as of yet. So later John came by for a few, before running off to a meeting. She was very good with John, and we were both petting and talking to her. She turned around, tried to swipe and bite me, so I figured I had enough... I managed to kick her out of the bedroom, and tried giving her a stern lecture. I have been very good about not using the squirt bottle as of yet, I don't want her to retaliate, if that would be possible, but I think it's time. I think the reason that things were so much easier with Remi, the previous cat, was because he was sick pretty much the 2 of the 4 weeks that we had him before we had to put him to sleep. He tolerated a lot, was very lethargic, easy to pet, not very active. I think Scott and John are right, Inertia may be picking up on my tentativeness. I have to admit, as of tomorrow, we will have had her for a month, and I'm still skittish around her, only because I do not take too well to being swiped or nipped at. I just am trying to do the right thing. I think another thing to is that she misses the dog she was living with when Kim had her, and they played together, sorry, but no doggie here. It just irks me that I can't easily pick up on body language of the cat. I've skimmed the book a little, and with my vision, I honestly can't tell which "look" she is trying to portray at times. There is a segment in the book on body language with illustrations that I'm not picking up on. I think she's just frustrated because she's in a new environment, is doing a lot of window sill hopping.. (Kin lived in an apartment with not many windowsills, but rather, screen doors. When she was looking out the window earlier, she definitely left a few clawmarks. I've been meaning to get a head start on cleaning the windows when I knew for sure the rain would be over for awhile, might wait for awhile yet. I try to play with her with a laser light, that only lasts so long. She has her toys here and there, she loses interest easily. She really likes playing tug o war with the fishing rod teaser toy, but half the time she is able to yank it out of my hands, at that point I giv eup cuz she already seems mad. I'm going to see if it would be possible to wean her off of sleeping with me and on her tree which she hasn't touched much in the last few days. Sometimes she bites me when I'm trying to get into bed, and out of bed and I really don't like it. Any suggestions would be very helpful, remember this is my second cat ever, and I didn't have enough experience with the first one. I have to admit, we bought the Cats for dummies when we had Remi, but since she was sick and not doing much I didn't do a lot of reading or worrying. But I think Nert is turning into a mini monster towards me. :(

NERT ALERT!

There's really not much to say ~ a couple of people asked if there have been any updates that they've been missing. I checked with Kim on Nert's behavior and her weirdness and she's normal. She gets whiney and has a crackly snobbish meow a lot but that's too be expected, i.e., she's WEIRD! LOL! Bought her a couple new toys, she loses her interest in about 30 seconds... but she has the most fun with the fishing rod cat teaser thingie, she jumps pretty well in the air. In fact, earlier, it was dangling off the side of the kitchen counter and she was trying to climb the side of the counter to get to it. :) I crumpled up a little foil ball, she drags that round from time to time. I took ALL her toys out, once in awhile she bats a couple of them around but again loses interest rather quickly. :-/ I wish I could figure out how to get her weighed.. there's a portion of the wii fit plus where U can weigh your pets, but she doesn't even like to be picked up, sooo that won't work very easily. She is getting better at letting me have my spot in bed... this morning, she curled up right in the very spot where my right ribs were hurting, I'm sure she was sensing pain.. have had rib pain for a couple of days (long story), sometimes when she pounces on them and kneads them it doesn't help. Last night I was wiggling around trying to get comfy under the covers and she tried to bite my arm from outside of the covers. I know it was probably in play but it was a LITTLE too hard although the marks & pain weren't there this morning. I love it when cats get into mischief then they purr at you and knead you to a pulp the next morning like nothing ever happened. Today she climbed up on the cabinet in the "dining nook", so she slid herself between the top and bottom, John had to pull her out.. of course my making noises and yelling at her didn't help. :-/ But she didn't stay mad at me for long. Sometimes however when I go to pet her, she starts running from me. Bad cat owner?!?? Stay tuned to see what lies ahead. :)

Short update on Nert

Nert has been pretty bouncy the last couple of days, however prissy. When I go to pet her or play with her, a lot of times she snubs me and walks away.. sometimes I can't even brush her hair without her getting fussy but when it's bedtime that's a whole different story. She loves sleeping on the bed, and hogging it! I was hoping to at least train her to sleep at the foot of the bed where Remi slept, but no go. And of course she wakes me up slightly earlier before I'm ready to get up, but she is purring a lot of the time. I kinda wish I could get her to sleep in her tree, but I'll let her do what she's going to do as long as she's being good, she hasn't gotten herself into TOO much trouble so far. She has only gotten on the one couch we don't want her on, once or twice, I have not even had to use a spray bottle, all I've had to do was firmly say "Off" or "Down" and she goes flying with this look of, "Oh geez, I'm in trouble now!" The only thing is her purr sounds a little broken or scratchy, but she's eating & drinking pretty well. I wish I had a video camera, she seems to have fun with the laser pointer going in nonstop circles! Have not taken any more pictures, when I do I will upload them. Oh yeah, PS, I wonder if our purchasing the Wii yesterday has anything to do with her attitude. Ya think? LOL... *Sigh*

Our new cat!

As most, if not of all of you know, John and I have acquired another cat into our lives. We had been trying to figure when the right time would be; I was in Florida for 10 days just before Christmas, and we had agreed that wouldn't be the best time to introduce a pet into a new environment. I received a message from a friend stating that a mutual friend had been offered a job, wich would require her to relocate. She did not want to take her cat, and both friends thought of John and me! I was a little nervous at first, but on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, we went to have a "Meet and Greet" session. She seemed to take to us right away with no problem, and we picked her up on New Years Eve, and spent the evening at home with a few friends. Of course she was a little shy, getting used to new people and surroundings and loud noises, but she's doing just fine. I was a little nervous all over again with the first night, and I got maybe an hour or two of sleep. Last night, being the second night of her new home, went much better. Kim had given us all of her toys, her cat tree, etc so I'm sure that helped with the transition. Oh! By the way, her name is Inertia, or "Nert", but she doesn't live up to her name, she seems to be quite bouncy! :) Among the purchases we made today (a couple new toys, and a water dish), we bought a collar with a bell. Her other one doesn't have a bell and she had made me jump anytime she would jump on the bed and I wouldn't realize she was in the room! She is a cute 3 year old, bouncy little thing, I think things will work out pretty well. :) We hope she lives a long and healthy life. Stay tuned for future posts! Thanks for reading! :) Feel free to "Follow" me, so you can easily track the blog. :) PS, check my other post please, if anyone knows how I can put that cute big eyed cat graphic into my template let me know, thanks!
